Plummer block bearings UK
At Bearing Revolution we have a wide range of Plummer blocks in stock and ready for dispatch, we stock all popular and hard-to-find Plummer block housings in our stock range of over 12.5 million bearing related products.
Various housing designations including SN, SNU, SNV, SNK or SNL series, SD 3000, SD 3100 & SAF housings are available suitable for parallel or tapered shaft applications.
The split Plummer blocks are generally intended for bearing arrangements with self-aligning ball bearings, barrel roller bearings and spherical roller bearings and have a removable upper section to allow for easier fittings and maintenance.
The SNK / SNH series is the most popular form capable of accepting self-aligning ball bearings and spherical roller bearings. Shaft diameters from 20-140mm and a range of sealing options.
What are the types of Plummer blocks, and what are they used for?
Are used to support shafts in heavy machinery applications. The way it works is quite simple. It consists of two main parts: the housing and the bearing, such as a ball bearing, cylindrical bearing, tapered roller or synthetic bushing.
There are several different types, each designed for a specific purpose. The most common type is the pillow block, which is used to support a shaft that is not perfectly aligned. Other types include flanged housings, take-up blocks, and bearing housings. Like the Plummer block, flanged housings are used for applications where the shaft needs to be perfectly aligned. The flange provides a surface for the shaft to sit on, and the housing holds the Plummer block in place.
What are the key benefits of Plummer blocks?
There are several benefits to using Plummer blocks in heavy machinery applications. They typically afford a higher load capacity than other bearings, and they are less likely to fail under high loads. Also, Plummer blocks can accommodate misaligned shafts, reducing wear and tear on the shaft and extending the machinery's life.
- Higher load capacity
- Less likely to fail under high loads
- Accommodate misaligned shafts
- Can extend the life of machinery by reducing wear and tear on shafts
- Multi-relubrication points are provided to ensure re-lubrication
- Various sealing options, including V-ring seals, labyrinth seals or heavy-duty taconite seals
At Bearing Revolution, we understand the versatility, reliability, and performance Plummer blocks provide. If you're unsure which product to buy, contact us at 01952 222100, and we'll be happy to assist you in choosing the best Plummer block for the job.
