What are Adapter Sleeves?
20/01/2022

Adapter sleeves are a type of component designed for use with bearings that have a tapered bore, allowing them to be located onto a cylindrical shaft. Adapter sleeves typically sit within a bore tapered 1:12, but they can also be tapered 1:30. They are available in metric and imperial sizes.

Learn more about adapter sleeves, what they are and how they can be used from the experts at Bearing Revolution.

Adapter sleeves can be used on either plain shafts or stepped shafts. The right adapter size will need to be chosen to suit shafts of different widths – adapters are generally available for shaft widths up to 260mm.

Adapter sleeves are more popular in metric sizes but if you need imperial measurements, these are available as well. You can choose to browse all the adapters listed on our website by either metric or imperial. Adapter sleeves will come with the necessary lock nuts and lock washers, however, please note that you may need to order hydraulic nuts separately. If this is required, the correct one will be indicated in the adapter sleeve specification.

Some common specifications to consider before purchasing an adapter sleeve are:

  • Brand
  • Inside diameter
  • Outside diameter
  • Width
  • Weight

You can also choose from budget and premium options depending on how you will use the bearings and how much you want to spend. All bearings are manufactured to international standards.

At Bearing Revolution, we have a large range of adapter sleeves in stock. We always make sure to stock both popular and hard to find adapter sleeves, so you will be able to find exactly what you need within our range – we stock more than 12.5 million bearing-related products.
